It is my sad duty to inform you that Marge Madriago passed away in Sacramento, CA this weekend.  She was a past President of both California Soccer Association North and California Youth Soccer Association and made numerous contributions at the local, state, regional and national levels to the game of soccer. She also served as Vice Chair of the US Adult Soccer Association and is in its Hall of Fame, along with the Hall of Fame of California Soccer Association North.

In the late 1960’s, Marge began her soccer career as a team representative of the Federal Way team in Washington where she assisted with the Annual Canadian Exchange Program. She co-founded Southgate Youth Soccer Inc. of Sacramento, California in 1971 and served with that organization until 1973. At the league level, Marge was elected Vice-Chairman of the Sacramento Youth Soccer League where she established the Girls Soccer Program in 1974. She went on to serve as Chairman and CEO of California Youth Soccer Association-North for almost five years. Marge was also a board member of the US Youth Soccer Association in the late 70's. While there, she initiated the automation of its state office, instituted internal financial controls and founded the California-North Referee Administration.

Although Marge served youth soccer for over a decade, she also participated extensively in adult soccer at the state level. In 1993, she was elected President and CEO of California Soccer Association North, where she served until 2000. She became the Region IV Director for the USASA in 1996 and Vice Chair of USASA in 2002. Marge was very influential in getting the Olympic Festival and getting our players (men and women) to get on the USSF National Teams thru the Select Team Program. She spent more than three decades actively involved in the U.S. Soccer Federation organizations and chaired national level committees and task forces such at the USSF Werner Fricker Memorial Award Committee and the USSF Strategic Input Task Force.

The Madraigo Family will be holding a celebration of life at her son's home in Clarksburg, CA on November 2, 2019.
